2021-2022 Events

This year has been a fruitful year of support and enthusiasm for various causes from across the school. To mention a few:On Thursday 7th October, it was non-uniform day, our annual Hello Yellow Day in support of mental health week. With a voluntary £2 donation we managed to raise £2000! This was split evenly between each charity, Young Minds and poverty breakers. We held a Halloween fair in the small hall. This was a brilliant event - with a range of stalls; photo booth, fortune telling, temporary tattoos, and of course a cake sale. We successfully raised £250 for UNICEF and £250 for GOSH.This year’s Christmas Jumper day proved to be a success once again, raising more than £700 for Save the Children.LGBT soc and Charities hosted a joint bake sale and raised £284 for each charity. Half the proceeds went to young minds, a mental health charity who offer support and advice for young people and their parents alike. The other half went to Switchboard, a confidential, non-judgemental LGBT helpline, providing help over phone, messages, or email. This year we have raised over £10,000! This is a huge achievement and something to be very proud of our community for. Despite not being able to have events we might have done before the pandemic, like care home visits, we have managed to persevere and raise an impressive total. So thank you all for your engagement, support in wearing relevant clothes or colourful/christmas jumpers, cake buying, sunflower wearing and carol singing!

2020-2021 Events

Despite covid restrictions we still managed to pull together and organise many events over the year such as:
- In October, for World Mental Health Day, there was a non-uniform day where everybody was encouraged to wear yellow for Young Mind's #HelloYellow campaign. Our total amount of donations came to £1770 and this was equally split between Young Minds and Poverty Breakers.
- In December we had a Christmas jumper day, raising £885 for Save the Children and more specifically going towards their Yemen Crisis appeal. Handmade masks in Christmas themed fabrics were also sold for Centrepoint, fundraising a fabulous £460.18!
- During Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April we organised a full campaign, with posters raising awareness, a non-uniform day event, and stalls selling teal ribbons as a symbol of solidarity. These efforts were for two great causes, Safeline and The Survivors Trust, and raised a total of £2188.
